Anne Plumptre (1760-1818), author, was the daughter of Dr. Robert Plumptre, president of Queens’ College, Cambridge. She was well educated and versed in many languages. From 1802 to 1805 she resided in France and some years later published her observations in the ‘Narrative of a Three Years’ Residence in France’. She made two visits to Ireland during the period 1814-15 and recorded her experiences in this splendid volume.
