Patricia Highsmith (1921-1995) was an American novelist known for her psychological thrillers and crime novels. She gained fame with her debut novel, "Strangers on a Train" (1950), which was adapted into a classic film by Alfred Hitchcock. Highsmith's most celebrated creation is the character Tom Ripley, featured in "The Talented Mr. Ripley" (1955) and its sequels. Her works are characterized by their exploration of moral ambiguity, complex characters, and suspenseful plots. Highsmith's distinctive style and dark themes have left a lasting impact on the genre of psychological thrillers.
