Although the title states ‘hand-coloured illustrations’, this work was in fact issued in both states, i.e. coloured by Jack B. Yeats and uncoloured copies at a far cheaper rate [See following item]. The copy on offer here is coloured by Yeats. The third and most elaborate of his plays for young people. The intention was that the illustrations should be cut out and mounted on card for performance, so very few copies have survived intact.
