HEANEY, Seamus. Miracle. (Signed limited edition, issued as a Christmas card by the poet for 2006)

Loughcrew, County Meath: privately published for the author by Peter Fallon/The Gallery Press, 2006. One of 300 copies. Single folded card, printed in green, red and black, with holly decoration to upper cover.

Signed by Seamus Heaney beneath the poem.

Heaney’s Christmas card for 2006, privately printed in a small edition of only 300 copies. The poem, a meditation on the biblical healing of the paralysed man, focuses characteristically not upon the miracle itself but upon the friends who carry and support him. It was subsequently collected in Heaney’s final collection, Human Chain (2010).

Provenance: Paul Sullivan, a close friend of Heaney and an enthusiastic patron of his writing; acquired directly from Sullivan’s estate. With the earlier Peter Harrington description loosely inserted.

An attractive and scarce piece of Heaney ephemera, particularly desirable signed and with notable provenance.
