Printed for Seamus Heaney by Peter Fallon, 1989. Octavo. A single bi-fold sheet of cream card with title and illustration to front by Catherine Ann Heaney. Lengthy inscription by Seamus Heaney to Eavan Boland, “Eavan - did I already send you the enclosed ? The thing is set for weekend of May 10-13, I think. But the main thing is to wish you and Kevin and the girls a happy Christmas, love from us all. Seamus, Marie & Co.” One autograph correction to the text of the poem by Heaney, changed the printed “seasonal” to “seasoned”. A fine copy.
Brandes & Durkan AA25.
Seamus Heaney’s Christmas Card for 1989. This is the poem’s first appearance. It was later published in Parnassus in July 1990, and in a festschrift for Robert Graecen in February 1991, before being collected later that year in Seeing Things (Faber, 1991).
