This edition was limited to 750 copies only. The preface is dated at Sligo March 24th, 1895. There was also an edition of 25 copies printed on Japan vellum and signed by the author.
On John Quinn’s copy of the limited edition Yeats wrote: “The man who made this cover made a beautiful design, which I saw at an exhibition, but after I saw it Dent had spoiled him, with all kinds of odd jobs & when he did this the spirit had gone out of him. I hate this expressionless angel of his. W.B. Yeats, 1904”.
