Bound in full brown crushed levant morocco over bevelled boards, Desclée Lefebure & Co. in gilt on lower turn-ins; covers with gilt decorated floral border with green, red and brown inlays to two sides (outer and lower edges); spine divided into six panels by five gilt raised bands, title in gilt on green morocco label in second, remainder in gilt to a centre-and-corner design with cross at centre; wide gilt doublures; brown endpapers with repeated multiple gilt stars; red and gold endbands. Previous owner’s signature on front endpaper. All edges gilt. A very attractive and desirable item. Imprimatur from James Cardinal Gibbons, Arch. of Baltimore on verso of titlepage.
