London: The Field Press, 1920. 4to. pp. [x], 148. Limited edition printed for private circulation only. The titlepage drawn and illuminated by Fred Leist. Signed and inscribed by the author. Original full vellum, title in gilt on upper cover and spine, badge of RAF in gilt over a circular wreath with the arms of Australia, Federated Malaya States, Straits settlements, New South Wales in gilt. Slight tear to vellum along upper joint. T.e.g., remainder untrimmed. A very good copy.
Copac locates only 2 copies, both at the Imperial War Museum (I defective).
With fine plates illustrating the forty-one battle planes presented by subscribers in Australia. Of the 94 battle planes that fought in the Great War, 1914-1918, Australia presented 41, and Malaya 53.
A key work, being one of the earliest items on Australian aeronautics.
