With twelve illustrations by Charles M. Sheldon. London: Blackie, 1901. pp. 384, [32 (publisher’s list)]. Publisher’s pictorial cloth over bevelled boards, title in gilt on upper cover and spine. Previous owner’s signature on half-title. All edges green. Recased. A very good copy. The hero is a young officer in the Irish Brigade, which for many years after the siege of Limerick formed the backbone of the French army.
