The hero is a young officer in the Irish Brigade, which for many years after the siege of Limerick formed the backbone of the French army. He goes through many stirring adventures, successfully carries out many dangerous missions in Spain, saves a large portion of the French army at Oudenarde, an even has the audacity to kidnap the Prime Minister of England.
