Little’s thoughtful study of St Brendan the Navigator, reading the medieval Navigatio against practical seamanship and North Atlantic geography. Rather than a simple retelling, he sifts the hagiography for realistic detail, currents, winds, island landfalls, fauna and folklore, testing whether an early medieval voyage from the west of Ireland could have ranged via the Hebrides, Faroes and Iceland to further shores.
