Some of the more important families mentioned are: The Bourkes, Butlers, Clarkes, Fitzgeralds, Hadsors, Lacys, Kindelans, Lincolns, Lutrells, MacDonnells, MacManuses, Maguires, Murphys, O’Briens, O’Connors, O’Donnells, O’Garas, Kellys, O’Neills, O’Regans, O’Reillys, O’Sullivans, Powers, Terrys, Whites, etc. The first Irishman admitted to the Order of Santiago was Daniel O’Sullivan Beare, son of Donal Cam, in 1606.
