Born in London of Irish parents, MacDonogh was educated at Oriel College, Oxford, he was captain in the Life Guards before pursuing a literary career, publishing in the Literary Gazette, European Magazine, and other periodicals.
Vol. 1 has a folded map flanked by engraved views and engravings throughout text. Vol. 2 has a frontispiece of the Four Courts engraved by Ambroise Tardieu and engravings throughout text. Views include: Dublin Castle; St. Patrick’s Cathedral; Bank of Dublin; Theatre Royal; Turc Lake; Ross Castle.
