Dublin: Pippen, 1979. First edition. Slim quarto. pp. 104. Original pictorial card wrappers. A fine copy. A scarce collection of the writings and song lyrics of Philip Lynott (1949–1986), frontman, bassist and principal songwriter of Thin Lizzy, one of Ireland’s most influential rock musicians. Dedicated to Sarah Lynott, the volume gathers many of his best-known compositions, including The Boys Are Back in Town, Dancing in the Moonlight, Cowboy Song, Emerald, Róisín Dubh, Dear Heart, King’s Vengeance, and numerous other lyrics spanning Lynott’s career.
The final page notes that the book was issued in a limited edition of just 1,000 copies, published by Pippen in 1979. Copies are increasingly difficult to locate, particularly in such well-preserved condition. An important item for collectors of Irish music, Thin Lizzy memorabilia, rock history, and modern Irish cultural heritage.
