Official programme. Dublin: Cumann Lúthchleas Gael, 1975. pp. 41. Original pictorial wrappers, printed in bright magenta with bold yellow titles and photographic action scene to upper cover. A very good copy.
Cluichí Ceannais Iomána na hÉireann. Páirc an Chrócaigh, 7 Meán Fómhair 1975.
The official match programme for the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Final, played at Croke Park on 7 September 1975 between Kilkenny and Galway (Senior), and Kilkenny and Cork (Minor). Price printed as Luach 20p. Text largely in Irish, with player line-outs, team colours, advertisements, and features on the GAA.
This final was of particular note as Kilkenny, powered by Eddie Keher, Liam “Chunky” O’Brien and Pat Henderson, secured their 23rd All-Ireland Senior Hurling title, defeating Galway on a scoreline of 2-22 to 2-10. In the minor final, Cork overcame Kilkenny to claim their 16th minor crown.
An evocative survivor from the golden era of 1970s hurling, retaining the vibrancy of its original covers. Such official programmes, sold cheaply at the turnstiles, were often discarded after the match; well-preserved examples are increasingly sought after by GAA historians and collectors alike.
