London: Methuen, 1910. 12mo. Fourth edition. Bound in publisher’s full green cloth covers, gilt lettering on front and spine. Top edges gilt, others deckled. Generally a fine clean copy. A crisp, attractive copy in the characteristic Methuen “uniform” style of the period.
Wilde’s society comedy, first performed 1895 and first published in book form in 1899, here in Methuen’s early reprint series issued under the general editorship of Robert Ross, which helped re-establish Wilde’s works in the years following the Collected Edition (1908). The green cloth with gilt lettering and gilt top edge is typical of Methuen’s early twentieth-century trade presentation.
