De Gennaro, an Italian artist, worked for many years in Ireland where his paintings were highly regarded and he became widely identified as an Irish artist. The subject matter is mainly of theislanders of Inisheer; also portraits of Douglas Hyde, Seán Keating, Jack B. Yeats, Jerome Connor, Liam Gogan, and also some Negro and East Indian subjects.
