Title in gilt on upper cover and spine, gilt decoration to lower cover; floral pattern endpapers. Previous owner's stamp on recto of frontispiece. Professionally rebacked at the Abrams Bindery. All edges gilt. A few spots of foxing to the prelims. A very good copy.

The upper cover is decoratively blocked in gilt with the title arranged in a flowing typographic design, interwoven with a stylised vine of hops and foliage, the tendrils curling elegantly around the lettering and forming a naturalistic brewing motif.

The lower cover is centred with a finely gilt vignette depicting a seated monk raising a glass at a table, framed within a simple rectangular panel and accompanied by trailing vine decoration. The figure, suggestive of hospitality or convivial drinking, provides a charming and understated counterpart to the more elaborate front cover design
