These letters (834) were written to Lady Amelia Lennox, first Duchess of Leinster (1731-1814) by her first and second husbands, the Duke of Leinster and Mr. William Ogilvie, and by various members of the ducal families of Leinster and Richmond. The correspondence gives a remarkable picture of social and political life in Ireland and England during the second half of the eighteenth century, with interesting glimpses of the leading men and women of the day, such as Grattan, Flood, Sheridan, Pitt, Fox, Garrick, Walpole, Mrs. Siddons and the Marquise Du Deffand. There are over sixty letters from Lord Edward Fitzgerald, containing much interesting material.
