This book is a detailed account of the city of London’s share in the Ulster plantation, based on exhaustive research among original sources, including the records of the London livery companies. Besides giving a picture of the colonisation of Ulster in the early seventeenth century, it describes the foundation and early history of the county and city of Londonderry, the town of Coleraine, and the Irish Society of London. There is also a detailed study of the early Stuart policy towards Ireland.
The major part of this edition was destroyed by a German bombing raid during the Belfast Blitz.
