A particularly desirable contemporary ownership inscription appears to the title page (“from Denis”), adding a layer of immediacy and association. Internally clean, with light age-toning throughout; occasional spotting. A South African bookseller’s stamp (Johannesburg) to rear endpaper, indicating early international circulation. In good condition.

First edition of this important and scarce first-hand account of the internment of Irish Volunteers following the 1916 Rising, written by Adjutant W. J. Brennan-Whitmore, himself a participant in the events. Frongoch camp in Wales, often described as the “University of Revolution”, became a formative training ground for many future leaders of the War of Independence, lending this work considerable historical significance.

A cornerstone text of Irish revolutionary history, increasingly sought-after in the market. Copies in original boards, as here, are becoming scarce.
