Dublin & London: Maunsel, 1918. Small octavo. First edition. pp. 60. Printed green wrappers, repair to spine. A very good copy. Very rare.
Issued two years after the Easter Rising, this Maunsel anthology is one of the earliest book-form memorials to the “poet-leaders” of 1916. It gathers verse by three signatories of the Proclamation: P. H. Pearse, Thomas MacDonagh, and Joseph Mary Plunkett, each executed in May 1916, together with poems by John (Seán) F. MacEntee, a Volunteer who fought at the GPO, was interned at Frongoch, and later became a prominent minister in the Free State Fianna Fáil governments.
