Illustrated titlepage and colour illustration, both by Paul Nash. London: Faber, 1929. Octavo. First edition. pp. 12. Papered boards, title in gilt on upper cover. Limited to 400 copies on handmade paper. Signed by George Russell with his pseudonym ‘A.E.’ Wear to spine, as usual. From the library of Séan Ó Corcora with his bookplate on front pastedown. A very good copy. Very scarce.
A slender poem by Ireland’s mystical poet A.E., issued the year Faber adopted the “Faber & Faber” style, and decorated with designs by Paul Nash, whose modernist line provides a striking counterpoint to Russell’s visionary text. Very scarce in nice condition and particularly so signed.
